Mayfield win gold rating for ‘Parish in Bloom 2018’
Mayfield and Five Ashes entered the ‘Parish in Bloom’ category for the first time and we are delighted to annouce a win for the parish! They were also the only parish to receive a gold rating with the highest score of 89 out of 100. A fantastic result!
Some points of note in the judges report included:
- Mayfield is a quintessential village and a pleasure to visit
- The visit was well organised and hosted
- The village could go far in some of the other categories in future years
- The supportive information was excellent and gave context to the entry
- The primary school gardening club had produced a very creditable themed display
- The community clearly has considerable civic and local pride.
- The local shops were to be congratulated on their efforts and Leppard’s butcher’s bike outside the shop was particularly noted, as was the colourful florists shopfront
